Product Research tools
Amazon product research tools for finding profitable opportunities and validating demand before launch. Compare sales estimates, competition metrics, filters and trend data.
Who each tool suits
- First private-label launch. Jungle Scout is known for clear onboarding, accurate sales estimates, Opportunity Finder and a supplier database, from $29/mo billed annually or $49 monthly. There is no free trial, only a 7-day money-back guarantee.
- Depth on a budget. SellerSprite offers comparable data across nine marketplaces from $39/mo, with a rougher translated interface. AMZScout sells one simple bundle at $59.99/mo or $399.99 a year, though estimates are weaker in small niches.
- Broadest toolset. Helium 10 includes Black Box alongside dozens of other tools, which justifies its price only if the rest gets used.
- Wholesale and arbitrage. SmartScout maps brands and subcategories; Tactical Arbitrage scans retail sites.
- Go/no-go verdicts. Mettra’s Autopilot returns a verdict on a niche covering demand, economics and risks, and Nexscope analyses niches conversationally. Both are younger products; Mettra is Amazon-only.
What to compare
Test estimate accuracy on niches already known well, since every tool’s numbers are modelled. Compare filters, historical depth, marketplace coverage and the limits on entry plans, which often cap searches or trackers. SellerApp, for instance, keeps a free plan for trying before paying, while Jungle Scout offers none.
Check the tool still exists
This category has churned. AmazeOwl’s site now serves a default server page and Egrow’s domain does not resolve, so neither can be bought by new users. ZonGuru’s Niche Finder has been replaced by an AI listing product, so it no longer serves research buyers. Confirm a tool is maintained before paying annually.
Common questions
Is Jungle Scout or Helium 10 better for product research?
Jungle Scout is easier for first-time sellers and cheaper to enter. Helium 10 suits sellers who will also use its keyword, listing and ad tools; for research alone, much of its price goes unused.
Are Amazon sales estimates accurate?
They are modelled from sales rank and other signals, not reported by Amazon, and accuracy varies by tool and niche. Treat them as directional and cross-check against niches already known well.
