Market Intelligence tools
Amazon market intelligence tools for analyzing demand, competition, trends and category performance. Compare data depth, historical insights, marketplaces and reporting features.
Two price worlds
- Self-serve. SmartScout maps Amazon by brand and subcategory, from $29/mo billed annually ($49 monthly). Its Basic plan covers product-level data only; brand, seller and category data, the reason wholesale sellers buy it, starts at the Essentials plan ($99/mo annually, $119 monthly). The data is US-centric. Mettra sits here for private-label niche decisions, with an Autopilot verdict that weighs demand, economics and risks; it has a free plan, but it covers Amazon only and is younger than its peers.
- Enterprise. Stackline covers Amazon, Walmart and Target, with a reported median contract around $42,500 a year. Pacvue focuses on retail media across several retailers, with average contracts reported near $26,500 a year. DataHawk combines product, keyword, ad and digital-shelf analytics on custom annual plans, and Intentwise pairs ad management with retail analytics for Amazon and Walmart.
What to compare
First, the unit of analysis: product-level estimates, brand and seller maps, or share of shelf across retailers. Second, coverage: SmartScout is US-centric, while Stackline and Pacvue span several retailers. Third, where the data ends up. DataHawk can feed Power BI, Looker or Snowflake, which suits companies with analysts and is wasted on a team with nobody to read the dashboards. Finally, intelligence platforms report; they do not change bids or listings.
Common mistakes
The expensive one is buying an enterprise platform too early: Stackline is generally considered overkill below roughly $1M in GMV, and Pacvue is considered overkill below about $1M a year in ad spend. The cheap one is staying on SmartScout Basic and expecting brand and seller data that only higher plans include. A third is treating category estimates as precise numbers rather than directional signals for a decision.
Common questions
Is SmartScout good for wholesale sourcing?
Yes for prospecting brands and seeing which sellers carry them, but only on Essentials or above. The Basic plan is limited to product-level data.
Do small Amazon sellers need Stackline or Pacvue?
Rarely. Both are sold on custom annual contracts with typical reported spend in the tens of thousands of dollars a year, aimed at brands with large GMV or ad budgets.
